After her puppy managed to escape the crate, one pet parent who set up her phone to determine how he weaseled his way out was left stunned.

A few years ago, TikTok user @abbarosee and her husband were crate training their puppy, but they quickly learned the process wasn't that easy. They placed their golden retriever pup in the crate and then went out to the living room. However, she told Newsweek via TikTok that about 10 minutes later, he was out.

"...He marched his way to the living room so nonchalantly!" she said. "My husband and I were shocked wondering how on earth this happened because his crate door was still closed and latched."

That's when the couple decided to set up the camera to film their pup. In a throwback video, which she posted to TikTok this week, the camera was placed in front of the dog's crate and they left the room. Without hesitation, the puppy started working his way to the top of the crate, using his front and back paws to climb it like a ladder.

He brought over his stuffed animals to help prop him up, but he didn't need them. He used puppy strength to pull himself up and wiggled his way partially free before the owner grabbed him.

The caption reads: "Golden retriever puppy stage is not for the weak."

The couple learned the hard way that puppy training comes with headaches. The first plan of attack was to figure out how to stop the pup from escaping.

"We assessed the situation and covered the top of his crate so it wouldn't happen again," she said.

She also wrote in the comment section that she was aware the crate was in upside-down. They wanted the crate to open toward the wall. That lets them leave it open so the pup could go in and out as he pleased.

The pup's pure determination—using stuffed animals and hanging on for dear life—quickly went viral on TikTok, bringing in more than 3.2 million views and 340,900 likes in three days.

"He said, 'Gimme a minute to rest I'm getting outta here one way or another!'" commented one viewer.

Another added: "Holding on for dear life took me out."

Impressed by the puppy's escape plan, someone said: "Honestly, he's earned his freedom at this point lol."
